This site is designed specifically for MFA and PhD applicants to login and create his/her own portfolio. You must officially submit your application before you can be given a username and password to access this online portfolio site.
To create an acount with username and password, please contact:

** PhD applicants contact vis-phd@ucsd.edu.
After receiving a notice of the account name and password from our MFA or PhD coordinator, the applicant can login using the given account name and password -- you may change the password once you log in.
If you are a MFA applicant and you have not created your own portfolio yet, you need to click on "Create content" --> "MFA portfolio". Make sure to fill in the "Statement of Purpose". If you copy the content from a Word file, you need to create a line break by positioning the mouse on the last character of the paragraph and then press Enter key to generate a blank line. If you copy the content from a PDF file, a line break will be created automatically. Then upload the photos using "Photos/Images" field. You may upload up to 20 images in jpeg, jpg, png or gif format. Each image's maximum size is 2MB. To upload a video/movie, use "File Attachment" field. You may upload up to 4 video/movie files. Each movie size should not be larger than 8MB. If you have created movie in swf, flv or mp3 format, you may create a flash node by clicking on "Create content" --> "flash". After you've created your portfolio or flash file and logged out, next time you can log in and then click on "My account and content" --> "My MFA Portfolio" to make changes.
If you are a PhD applicant, in Art History, Theory and Criticism OR Art History, Theory and Criticism with a concentration in Art Practice, you must create your own portfolio by clicking on "Create content" --> "PhD portfolio". If you are a PhD applicant in Art History, Theory and Criticism with a concentration in Art Practice , you must create your own portfolio by clicking on "Create content" --> "PhD Art Practice Portfolio". Both Art History, Theory and Criticism and Art Practice concentration applicants must upload their Writing Sample. You may enter up to 25 pages of your writing sample. If your writing sample is larger than 25 pages, you should upload it as a pdf file using "PDF attachment/Additional Items" field.For Art Practice concentration applicants, you must then upload your portfolio representing your art practice. You can upload photos using "Photos/Images" field. You can upload up to 20 images in jpeg, jpg, png or gif format. Each image's maximum size is 2MB. Then you may upload video/movie using "Movies/Videos" field. You can upload up to 4 movie/video files. Each movie size should not be larger than 8MB. If you have created movie in swf, flv or mp3 format, you may create a flash node by clicking on "Create content" --> "flash". You may also choose to submit additional materials, such as a resume, curriculum vitae, publications, etc. You can do so by uploading them in the “PDF Attachment/Additional Items” field. After you've created your portfolio or flash file and log out, next time you can log in and then click on "My account and content" --> "My PhD Portfolio" to make changes.
